side effects of zometa

Terri was started on Zometa this past wed. Since then she has had terrible joint pain. She is on Fentanyl patches (75 mcg) with oxcoy pills for break through pain. But they are not helping much. I read online that this is one of the side effects of zometa. Has anyone else experienced this? How long does it last? I don't know if I should call the dr tomorrow or if this is normal. Is this going to happen with ever injection or is it temp?
As for the cancer, as the dr said, it is under control for the time being. Nothing shows in her liver, kidneys etc. The one that was on her adrenal gland did not show on this scan. There is no new mets on the brain and the ones that was there have shrank a little. All of them in her chest scan have shrunk a little. No new ones. She hasn't had cemo for 6 weeks now. But she still won't eat hardly anything. The dr said she should be feeling a lot better (other than she is starving herself to death) Her blood work is great with the ca125 now normal. She showed only one new on on her spine, so he started her on the zometa. She tries to eat but when she chews, she starts gaging. Even liquids. And we have tried everything. She has lost about 20 lbs in the past 6 weeks. I got her some whey protein (unflavored) that she will mix in her orange juice dailey. I also got some liquid vitamins, so far the past two days I have gotton her to take. I'm at a loss I know she is starving but don't know what to do. If we ride her about trying to eat, she gets upset and then won't even try. Please, I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any.
