I'm another newbie..

Background:
Almost 69 year old male.
Biopsy shows Adenocarcinoma right lower lobe.
In the staging process now.

Complicating factor: I have Myasthenia Gravis

Issue: Making it easy for my caregiver..(my wife)

I'm OK with this cancer diagnosis, having paid for it 2 1/2 packs /day for over 40 years, (quit in 1996); however, this has hit my wife pretty hard.

I'd like all the advice I can get in making life as easy for her as possible. I notice that there are quite a few caregivers posting here, so please pile on and tell me what to do and what NOT to do to smooth this process.

Regards,

zim

Zim,

Welcome and I'm sorry you are entering the lung cancer fight. Let's hope for an earlier staging --- that's the kind we like around here.

You'll receive a lot of support and it's best found if you drop down and post in the lung cancer forum itself.

You sound like a heckuva guy to be worrying about your wife right now. All the testing and whatnot is an emotionally difficult time. I found that my husband and I really protected each other a lot during his journey. We pulled together hard as a team and I think you will too.

This is all about YOU. That's one thing I never forgot when it came to my husband. I'd go off somewhere and rail at God about things at times, but tried to keep my game face on for my husband because he was such a fighter.

I'll catch you in the lung cancer forums and maybe your wife will want to post also. Help is to be had for both of you there.

God bless and sending hugs,
PBJ
