|
|
I was recently diagnosed with Papillary Carcinoma, with surgery scheduled for Nov 5th. I just started reading about RAI, and it's has truly freightened me. As such, I have grave concern about going on RAI because my 76 y/o mother lives in the house with me:
If there is anyone that can help shed some light on this, I would truly appreciate it:
1. How long after surgery do you start RAI?
2. When on RAI are you hospitalized, and for how long?
3. How long are you radioactive?
4. When can I be around family members in the household?
5. If limited being around others, how do I share the same bathroom?
6. Once free of RAI, how do I clean my bedroom and bathroom?
7. When not on Thyroid meds (during RAI) how are you suppose to feel? Tired, crazy, sluggish, etc.)
I hope these questions aren't too terribly crazy, but I have a tremendous concern about being around my mother and trying to help her. _________________ “It takes a deep commitment to change, and an even deeper commitment to grow" |

Brainman - Thanks for the kind words. My surgery is not scheduled until Nov 5th, but I'm definitely looking forward to when it is all over.
Havefaith - As usual, you are a wealth of information and I truly appreciate the feedback. I will take a look at the site when I have a chance, particularily as it relates to the Low Iodine Diet. _________________ “It takes a deep commitment to change, and an even deeper commitment to grow" |
