My husband has been diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer that has metastacized to the bone. He has received radiation to his sternum, femur and soon to his ribs. Chemo is soon to come. The Dr.'s are hesitant to give a prognosis and we really don't know how this is going to play out. Is there possibly a remission in sight after the chemo or will he keep going downhill from here. Also any advise for me as a caregiver. It is wearing me down and it has only been a couple of months.

I am not familiar with lung cancer but there are a number of services available to you..(is your husband hospitalized or at home?)
The hospital can refer to many programs (as well the doctor should) but you can just look in the phone book ..HOSPICES VNA care..they are wonderful..if your case doesn't fall into their category, they will refer you to someplace that can help you
Let me know if you don't get answers you need

Hi Macaroni,
If the Dr.s are not saying, than chances are that they really don't know. They will be truthful with you, if you have asked. It is a good sign that they want to treat it, so just keep your hopes up that the chemo helps to at least halt fast progression, and the radiation should help a lot, to reduce any pain he may have, and possibly shrink his tumors. There are plenty of people with stage IV cancers out there who are living very full lives. Do some research by googleing and you will be able to find out an enormous amount of info on lung cancer metastisis.
Good Luck!!

Radiation treatment to the sternum, ribs, spine, and pelvis is especially likely to cause bone marrow and blood cell damage.

Be sure to request a CBC at least once weekly if your clinic is not already providing this.
