- 33yrs
- Diagnosed two weeks ago
- pre-menopausal
- ductal carcinoma
- ER+, PR+, HER2-
- 4cm, likely 1 node but not biopsied
- hasn't begun treatments yet; will be starting 4 cycles of Taxol and then 4 of A/C, on a 2-week period soon
- my friend's doctor has suggested to her that she get a port for her chemo treatments. does anyone have experience with these? do you think it's a good idea? also, what are 'smart ports'? why would she get a 'smart port' versus a 'regular port'?

thanks in advance for any information you can share with us!

best,
traci

Traci, I am not sure about the different types of ports. I know that when my father was on regular, IV chemo, they also where planing to use a port... it certainly would have been easier of him. However, he died too soon. I highly recommend that your friend strongly consider using a port.
