My sister was just diagnosed with cancer and is obviously overwhelmed and consumed with everything that goes into battling the disease and winning. There's little time left to update the many, many people who care so much and want to help. To ease the load on her I am looking for web-based tools that will let her update everyone, as well as letting the rest of us collaborate and coordinate our efforts to support her and her family. I was hoping others here may have run across something useful.

My first thought was to start a traditional blog. That would be great for status updates but not so great for the rest of us to communicate with each other and work out the details of meals, visits, kid-sitting, rides, etc.

Anybody out there run across good websites that go beyond the basic blog functionality, and would lend itself to this type of application?

Thanks!!

You probably already know about blogger.com ? It is a google driven blog with all the common blog features. But there are many, many others.

Hi,

I used carepages.com when I was in this position with my husband. It allowed me control over who could visit the site and was a HUGE way of easing the burden of keeping everyone up to date.

It's not the greatest in terms of coordinating things with the family for various duties. Maybe you should have an email list for those people.

Best of luck,
PBJ
