Hi Carrieanne,

I'm so sorry that you have been diagnosed.

did your doctor specify what sub-stage of Stage 1 you are?

For your reference, here is a break down of all the different stages of cervical cancer. http://cancer.about.com/od/cancercervical/f/stagescervical.htm

As far as treatment, that can vary from a cone biopsy to a trach to a hysterectomy. And if a lymph node biopsy comes back positive, then radiation or chemo.

If I recall, you recently had a colp. Is that how they determined you are stage 1? Have they preformed a cone biopsy yet?

During your doctor appointment, did you doctor go over anything with you as far as treatment is concerned?

-Hugs and love, rockstar

Thanks rockstar..

Yes they did the colp and we are still waiting for some more results, the doc said stage1 at least because she was able to see the white areas without the microscope, but I haven't been put in a class yet and as for treatment once all the test come back in they are going to set up my treatment plan, I guess I thought stage 1 was pretty simple just the freeze procedure I think it's called a cyro??? but I guess it varies even in stage 1, I don't know about the lymph nodes yet, is that a test ran with the colp??? It feels like there is just to much to understand but I want to prepare myself to make good decisions...

hey carrie,

Stage 1 does sort of vary, and it does depend on how developed it is. If anything would be next for you after the colp, it would be the cone biopsy or something along those lines.

For me, the reason why I had a rad hsyt (still have my ovaries) is because my strain was very rare and aggressive. There was one month between the time of my pap and my colp and in that 28 days, I already grew a visible several centimeters big growth on my cervix. Imagine if I procrastinated on my pap! And since there isn't too much information on my strain, we went for the guaranteed route of removing all the cancer. (my gyno hasn't seen a case before mine with this strain, and my specialist has only seen 40 other cases)

But other people have less aggressive and slower strains where such drastic and immediate action isn't necessary.

And for me, they tested my lymph nodes when they preformed the hysterectomy. That was the only way for them to get access to those nodes.

Let us know how those results come back! Very Happy
