I was diagnosed with Stage IA bone lymphoma in 1987 at the age of 32. 5400 RADS radiation on the tibia and 12 sessions of CHOP-Bleo. It sent me into premature menopause but by some miracle I was able to concieve my now 16 year old son at age 37. He is our only child. It was a perfect pregnancy and he has grown into a wonderful healthy, happy HS junior, who is busy living and planning his future. I never worried about him as the doctors told me my cancer was probably environmentally induced, but still took him in for yearly physicals - just in case. Sure enough, he has a Grade2 lymph node in his neck that did not regress with antibiotics. We quickly saw an ENT who ordered an MRI and told us to prepare to have an excisional biopsy to look for Lymphoma. We are still waiting for insurance authorization.
I am reeling. I could accept the fact I got cancer. I never asked, "Why me?". I am now.
I cannot wrap my head around the possiblity that my precious 16 year old son may have to experience the same fear, risks and pain.

Hi Colola

First you need to take a deep breath and relax. There is no need to panic at this stage. We have had over 100 people post here with lymphoma symptoms and only 2 of them actually had lymphoma. Don't dwell on this chances are it is something else as there are well over 300 conditions that have lymphoma like symptoms.

Your doctor is very proactive and has chosen the right path to follow. Take heart in the fact that you have a good doctor looking after your son, this will see your son has the best of care.

I can't comment on any chemo or Radiation treatments until we know if your Son has Lymphoma and if he does, what type it is. Lymphoma treatments , especially in young people have come a long way and the survival rates are the best in the field of oncology, but as I said at this stage it is not certain he has lymphoma at all.

Good luck, we are always here to help and here's hoping for a negative on that biopsy. Smile Please post back with the results
