My dad grew a brain tumor over the last 5 months what grade is this this.

The neurosurgeon didn't know if it's malignant or benign is this normal for them to say this before the surgery? The doctor that referred him to the neurosurgeon said it was benign but he is not the neurosurgeon. Would you take his word for it he looked over the images?

It's only 2 cm and is located above the left ear on or near the surface of the brain he is right handed and has had 2 seizures one in may and there was no tumor in the ct scan, He had a second seizure last Wednesday and had a mri and ct scan done and they seen the 2 cm tumor. He was released from the hospital on Friday. He goes into surgery on Monday is this normal to be rushed into surgery this fast?

His symptoms include dizzy spells mild blindness blurry vision consistent ringing in left ear short term memory loss and headaches. He has not thrown up that i know of.

I guess i am just wanting some answers that i guess i just have to wait to get.

Also to add what part of the brain is this tumor in it is right above his left ear and near his speech part of his brain it is on or near the surface of the brain neurosurgeon said it has a 5% to hurt his speech after his surgery.

Hope its just a benign and i am preying that he will come through just fine.

Curtis,

Very little will be comforting when you are waiting on the results. They could end up where it is totally fixable and life will go on with just a really bad scare, or you could get the news you fear.

I would say that if your doctor that looked at the images is an honest person that can be frank without fear of being sued (self-preservation keeps most doctors from speculating when they are even 90% sure), his not being sure is a good thing for you.

Our family doctors were fairly sure my step mother had a GBM since they had seen enough of them, they let us know that the worst case was likely. That was before the biopsy was done. So take some hope from your doctors indecision. Also, the longer it takes to get the biopsy results the better the chance you have for it being not as bad. The doc took one look at my step mothers and in had the results in minutes.

From everything I have heard from others, it is normal to get into surgery very quickly. As soon as a room is open they typically book it and get in there to see how much can be removed.

I don't know how much this helps, and I know how stressful the waiting is.
