Hi Marivic:

I am so sorry about your father's diagnosis. I noticed you used the term "province" so I am assuming he is likely not a resident of the United States. There is a program in the US called "The Hill Burton" program which offers assistance; and people falling under certain guidelines can apply for state medical programs. I will certainly pray for your father, Marivic. I know this must be terribly difficult time for you and him.

Rhonda

If your father is in Canada, he can apply for a Canada Pension Plan disability claim.

You can only get it if you've paid into CPP but it's always worth trying for.....it takes them up to 16 weeks for a decision, then another month for them to issue a cheque. Lots of paperwork involved, but if you need the money go for it. And who doesn't need the money???

My Hubbys' paperwork went in in August and we still haven't heard anything.....hope they're busy getting his cheque ready. Seriously!
