Another celebrity with Prostate Cancer (PCa) - John@newPCa.org (aka) az4peaks
Los Angeles - Actor Dennis Hopper is suffering from prostate cancer and has cancelled all engagements to focus on his treatment, his manager said in a statement Friday. Sam Maydew, told Access Hollywood that the 73-year-old actor and artist is being treated through a "special programme" at the University of Southern California medical centre.
The star of Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now and the TV series Crash would be forced to miss an exhibition at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne called Dennis Hopper and the New Hollywood, a collection of his artwork and photos, Mayhew added.
"We are hoping for the best," Maydew said. No other details were immediately available. |

Watching 30 Rock the other night made me think about the mythical "rule of 3" (celebrity deaths coming in threes). So if the same is true with PCa, who will be the next? Webber, Hopper...please God, don't let it be Kevin Costner.
On a slightly more serious note, it sounds ominous for Mr. Hopper, because there's none of the oft-heard cheery "doctors caught it early, while still curable, and he'll be back to work soon" type of statement. Instead, we're told Hopper went to the hospital in pain, and is going into a special program at USC.
Special program? Sounds like a clinical trial to me.
I'm not a huge Hopper fan, but I hope things are better than they sound at this point. _________________ Replicant

Senator Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.) announced "early stage" diagnosis 31 July. He had surgery and is out and about. Seed therapy? Out and about pretty quickly otherwise.
EDIT: Must have been RRP. References I find all say "surgery". _________________ DX 07/2009 with Gleason 4+3, PSA 4.1, age 63 1/2.

He was first diagnosed several years ago, according to news stories like this out over the weekend:

That probably isn't a good sign (battling PCa for 9 years) as far as the present situation is concerned. He probably has seen the PCa advance over that time.
Reading between the lines, my GUESS would be that he has advancing systemic, hormone refractory disease and has entered a Clinical Trial Study at USC. However, this is pure CONJECTURE on my part.
I wish him, and all others, well. - John@newPCa.org (aka) az4peaks |
