A week or so ago the back of my neck started feeling rather itchy several times a day, then one day I noticed a lump on the lower back part of my neck close to my left shoulder. I would say it was maybe about the size of a small marble... but this is just going by what I can feel. I have had no neck pains or felt anything other than what the doctors had told me before I discovered the lump, was typical of what a new mom experiences in the first year after child birth; feeling tired some days and aches and pains in the middle area of my back. My son is now 8 1/2 months old. I am so terrified the lump could be cancer. I have not been to the doctor yet, because I am so afraid. I was hoping I could get someone else's opinion? I also had a small list of complications during my pregnancy that I don't suspect could be related, but who knows. I had low hemoglobin, high blood pressure, gestational diabetes and my son was squishing my kidneys and causing them to swell. Everything was under control afterwards, but about 2-3 months ago I went to the doctor and told them I was feeling tired so they took a blood test and found my hemoglobin was slightly low, but if I regularly took a multivitamin it would be okay, and they tested my thyroid... but I believe that was because the day before I had had my wisdom tooth removed and I forgot to mention that while I was being examined. But that was okay too. Well that's everything I can think of for now, sorry for such a long post but my life is going so perfectly right now and I don't normally have much good luck, so I have been just waiting for a storm to roll in. Thank you so much for your help.

Hi Krissi

Don't be too concerned as this is most likely nothing to worry about. Most lumps are caused by things other than cancer. Write down all the symptoms you have had and tell the Doctor about them and let the docotr have a look.

There is no need to get to concerned at this point but do follow it up.

We are always here to give support so post back if you want to.

Good luck Exclamation

Hi Krissi,

A small lump on the back of your neck is usually a legion, or a benign cyst. You should however, go and get it looked at just for the sake of sanity!

Congratualtions on having your baby. I'm almost certain that your low haemaglobin levels could be to do with the fact that you are being kept very busy (maybe in the night as well) by your baby. The same thing happened to me when I had my daughter. I was so busy, I sometimes realised at 5 or 6 in the evening that all I had eaten or drank all day was half a flapjack and a cup of tea.

It sounds silly, that a person could forget that they are hungry, but it happens often with mums. You put all of your energy into the kids.

So, just go to the doctor and see what he/she says. You will feel like it is one less thing on your list! Good luck.
