I have read that fasting can help toughen healthy cells, and weaken cancer cells, which helps during chemo. Has anyone tried this?

On a side note, I read in Scientific America, that fasting helps the cells clean out the garbage inside them. Apparently, cells collect garbage inside them... bits of broken DNA, dead virus, and other things. When we fast, this forces the cells to digest the garbage inside them for energy.

I would not think that doing without food during treatments when most people are already weak would be good for a person. I do suspect that Fasting for a person in good health could be good.

Hi,

Not having read the Scientific American article, it sounds plausible that cells can clean up the debris within while fasting. After all, they need something to keep going and debris is okay when there is no other food source.

I feel that it might not be a great idea to fast while already weakened by illness, treatments or therapies.

My feeling is that one needs an energy source in order to keep up ones' strength and to try to maintain as good a nutritional balance as possible by whatever means possible.

Sounds like an interesting article, thanks for posting about it.

Best wishes,

Jean
