I posted originally under "her lung keeps filling with fluid" and no responses.
Now I am wondering what the outlook for my mother in law is since her lung is now filling up every 4-5 days and what they are pulling out now is almost all blood? She is also in a lot of pain and many of the pain medications are not working. Any suggestions on what they could try to help relieve some of her pain?
She finished radiation about 10 days ago and she is supposed to start chemo tomorrow but she has an infection where they placed the port so they are not sure if they can start chemo. If they do not start chemo and things keep progressing like they are (she has gotten so much worse just in the past week) I just have a feeling it won't be very long. Please if anyone has any information as far as how bad this really is please reply. The doctors just are not giving us much information. She has a brother in Japan who is supposed to come home Nov. 4th but I am worried that maybe he should try to come sooner.
Thank you for any information you can provide,
Becca

My sister had lung cancer for about 9 months. She chose not to have any radiation or chemo. People are not sure how to answer because we don't know how long we have on this earth. I heard on a Wednesday my sister's right lung had filled with fluid. I flew there on Saturday. We had our birthday together on Wednesday, and she passed away on the following Saturday. I was with her for only one week. All I can do is tell you what happeded with her. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.
