Could someone please tell me the different options for chemotherapy when dealing with gastric cancer?

I have tried to do some research but most of what I have found are strictly talking about advanced stages.

Thank you.

Dear Midge,

I see you posted way back in November 2005. I joined in March this year. How is your friend now? One of the problems with stomach cancer is that it is often only discovered when it is in advanced stage. Except perhaps in Japan where the incidence is high and therefore Japanese are very aware of the illness and have endoscopies, etc. done frequently for symptoms for which most of us in the West would pop a pill.
Let me know if you still have questions. Maybe I can help a little.

Dear Midge,

In my experinece, there is no definitive chemo drug for gastric cancer. As each patient is different, different chemo's are used. I know of several patients going through chemo for esophageal cancer and they are all on different treatments. Each individual doctor has a protocol that they follow for the different types of cancers. Some patients cannot tolerate some chemo's and others are tried until the right cocktail is found. I was allergic to some of my chemo's and had to be switched around until we found the right ones. Once you find out the names of the chemo that will be used, there are websites that can provide you information on the individual drugs. I hope this helps you. If not, I am sorry.
