| I am 29 years old and found a lump quite by accident today. I went to the Dr. and they have scheduled a mammogram for tomorrow. My lump feels like a small BB pellet. It is very hard and does not move at all. I have no pain. Could this really be cancer or could it be a clogged milk duct. My youngest child is 3 and I had a hysterectomy in Feb. 2002. |

Hi - they say that most breast lumps are benign, so hoping that yours is!BTW, sometimes lumps don't show on mammograms, so insist on ultrasound if this is the case.
Hoping for negative results,

Emily
As mentioned above, most nodules are benign. But all nodules should be examined and imaged. So you're right about going to a Dr. to be seen.
good luck

I agree with Sam. If the mammogram is "normal" insist on an ultra sound. I found my lump which ended up being 5.5 cm including the tissue around the actual lump that was cancer too. My mammogram showed "normal". It's a good test, the only thing we really have, but it does miss quite a bit of BC, so be your own advocate and insist on that ultra sound.
Good luck

Thanks. I know that this is probably benign. The Dr. did say that it does not feel like a cyst and that the location and feel of it is a little suspicious. It is right under the nipple just below the areola. I did have a mammogram and I have not heard anything specific but they did call me back for an ultrasound which I will have tomorrow. Logic tells me not to worry so much but I can't help it. My Dr. said she had the same type lump in the same spot when she was 29 and it was DCIS. She said she is not overly concered but she just wants to be sure.
Thanks for the support. I am trying not to get ahead of myself but this is turning out to be more nerve wracking than I thought. |

| Emily, I am so glad you have a doctor who is taking this seriously (and she has reason to). All too often doctors (with apologies to Dr. Leo) tell women your age that they are too young for breast cancer. Those of us who have been around internet chat boards for a while sadly know that this is just not true. Starting the B9 mantra for you. Please keep us posted. People here care. Hugs, Lauri |

Thank you so much Lauri. I am feeling a little anxious tonight and I have to admit that I am embarassed to feel that way. I am so lucky to have my Dr. I hope for the best. Even if it is B9 I have changed. I can't look at my kids and not appreciate things anymore. I am a single mom and just the thought of a minute possibility of cancer has scared me to death.
Thank you for the support. I have learned very quickly that it is harder to come by than I thought.

| I had the ultrasound this morning. All the Dr. said after was that these things are usually B9. My Dr. will have the report in a few hours. I am feeling a little less confident now. Does this mean that "it" is something? |
