I'm 44 and having a DaVinci-RP on Dec 20. Wondering if someone
knows of the best pads to use after cath comes out? Also, do they show through pants etc. Don't plan on returning to work until first or second week in January, But I travel a lot for work, and wondering about the pad thing. i.e. lose pants, dark colors etc. Any advice? Thanks all.

JLaw, hopefully you're doing your kegels already. My hubby Paul was 48 when he had his robotic done in April. He's had zero problems with urinary leakage beyond the first day of his cath removal. He dripped ever so slightly for a day and that was it. We purchased some poise pads just in case but he only needed a slim pad for the first day. He still does kegels a few times a day and does do the stop and start during urination at least once a day he says. According to the surgeon, he claimed Paul was too young and not to expect a urinary problem. That was either experience talking or ego..either way, he was right! Good luck. swim

I had RRP on 9/29/05. I tried a few different pads, but really liked the Depend Guards for Men. They fit really well into boxer-briefs or jockey shorts. They do not show through clothing, although I imagine if you were wearing something really tight, they could. I haven't really needed them. They are more of a security blanket. Since removal of the catheter, I have only experienced a drop or two of leakage on rare occasions if I do something to exert myself or something exciting happens suddenly (like your favorite team scoring a touchdown).

Thanks for the note. Sorry I haven't been on this in some time. Surgery went very well. Was back working from home in week 3, and in the office week 4. Started traveling for work, week 5. Not to bad, had some leaking, but manageable. Still have some pain in the penis shaft at end of the day at home when I'm more active and lifting. Doing well though. First PSA back was 0, so that's good. Thanks again.
