hi all! I read all ur messages and replies to get answers to my diagnosis.
I am 44 and was healthy till June 2005. In July I started having pain in my back and then in my chest and had breathlessness. In Aug 2005 my doc suggested xray and spn was detected in my right lung. CT scan confirmed this 15 mm by 14 mm sized nodular lesion in the right upper lobe, Right helium enlarged hydense lymphnodes. No pleural thickening or fluid. Calcified nodes seen adjacent left to arch of aorta. Trachea and bronchi appear normal. I was asked to go in for FNAC which I did but docs could not reach the nodule as it was obstructed by bones on both the sides. Bronchoscopy was performed and all the tests for TB and malignancy were negative. Thereafter I was put on trial TB treatment and was asked to monitor the nodule with periodic xrays. 3 months later, xrays showed changes and PET was suggested. PET scan was done a few days back and if you permit me to share PET Findings-

Intense FDG uptake (SUV-4.3) noted in the right upper lobe nodule. The necrotic right hilar node show mildly increased uptake at the periphery (SUV-2.3) Rest of the small volume mediastinal and calcified abdominal nodes, small right lung apical lesion and mild pleural thickening in left lung doesn't show any FDG uptake. FDG uptake noted in the neck- suggestive of brown fat. Increased uptake also noted in posterior paraspinal region in upper thorax-?related to posture. Otherwise the survey doesn't reveal any focal abnormality.

I have been asked to continue with trial TB treatment and keep monitoring the nodule with repeat CT scan after 3 months. I have had no fever, appetite is ok, have been feeling funny in my throat for a month and today my throat is hurting. I get breathless very soon. There has been no weight loss. No menstruration for the last three months(menopause?). PET CT also mentions "another smaller irregular nodule in the right upper lobe".

Inspite of having negative reports for TB i am having TB medicines as a trial treatment. Docs do not rule out malignancy but can't confirm it either. My chest hurts when I deep breathe. Breathlessness is another problem. I can literally hear my chest pounding when I put in little effort. Anyone here can guide me what to do? Will waiting for another 3 months be too late?
