Crying or Very sad Hi,
I am new to this forum and have stage 4 colon cancer. I start chemo on Monday.
I have been hearing that some people can get really sick from this and I just don't want to be sick anymore.
I don't care if I lose my hair. But I have been so sick with this cancer since October, 2005 that I am plain tired of it all. I had surgery in novembber. They resectioned my colon, took both of my ovaries, had a pick line into my neck becasue my veins wouldn't hold the iv's. I have had a port a cath into my neck plus numerous other tests.
I know, I am supposed to think positive, but sometimes its really hard. There are days I just want to throw in the towel and stop evrything..
sorry for sounding off like that.

Having cancer and feeling sick all the time is extremely hard. Some days are better than others. I will not lie to you, chemo is very tough to get through, but IT IS DOABLE! There are many medications that the drs can give you to help you feel better. you need to be sure and tell them how you feel so they can help you. I wish you the very best, my prayers are with you.

Thank you for your reply. I sounded awful when I wrote that last night.
I guess I was feeling a little overwhelmed by everything.
I need to focus on the positive. That is the only way I will get through this.

Karen, I had 13 months of Chemo for my brain cancer. I was hospitalized multiple times for various infections... it lowered my white blood cell count very low. Right after finishing the 13 months, I turned 40, one of those magic ages that people like to tease you about. However, my reply was always the same: "I don't mind being 40. I just feel like God owes me a year. I'll be glad to turn 40 next year!" That was 11 years ago.

My point is, I "traded" 1 year of my life, but got 11+ years of cancer free life.

Brainman,
I would like to thank you for the little pep talk. I am glad that you are doing much better.
2005 was a rough year for me. I lost my dear mother in law, who I was very close to in July. October I got sick with divertriculitiis and in November I find out I have colon cancer and in December my husband was laid off from the only job we have right now.
If I sounded like I was feeling sorry for myself I am sorry. I am starting chemo next week. They have rescheduled it 3 times now for one reason or another, but I know it isn't as bad as it used to be so I am trying to focus on the positive side of things.
I am glad there are people like you have a positive outlook on things and can share those things with people like me. Its people like you who keep us going.
