I am 20yrs old and for last 4mnths noticed lump in my right groin I have also been feeling very tired. I waited awhile thinking it would just go away and wasn't painful. It kept getting slightly larger though. I went to see first doctor who told me nothing to worry about. Still felt sick so went to 2nd doc who put me on antibiotics for 15 days. felt so tired and weak my mum sent me to emergency and they said i had a few swollen lymph nodes groin (both sides), base of neck, and what i didnt relise my glands in neck or as i now know lymph glands in neck on both sides under jaw - they said keep up with the antibiotics. Still felt off so I went to different doctors again and he sent me for Ultrasound on right groin. The lady who did the ultrasound belived that the lymph node was larger than normal and got a doc to come in and look at it while she was actually doing it. many enlarged nodes were noted with the biggest 3.5cm. I have since been back to see the doc again and he said though they are enlarged the Ultrasound shows they are not discoloured and told me just to rest for next month and I will probably start feeling better. If i wait another month it means all together been about 5.5 - 6mnths approx. i dont know what to think i just feel generally yuckie and tired. I am sorry to rattle on but i have no clue and no idea what to ask for or say to the doctors and they keep just putting it off. Any suggestions or help would be great. Also i have never had any other significant health probs.

Hi J3ss

I went in to the ER after noticing that the left side of my neck was swollen. The ER doctors spent the complete day doing test on me (physical exam, blood, X-ray and final CT-Scan. It wasn't until they got to the CT-Scan before they suspected that I had Lymphoma (NHD). They immediately made me an appointment with an oncologist who examined me and sent me for a biopsy. When he received the results he gave me hisdiagnosis of what specific type of cancer I had (something like follicular low aggression small cell). and scheduled Chemo.

After 6 weeks of chemo he questioned whether I might actually have a more aggressive type of cancer and turned up the dial.

That was three years ago. I'm still doing pretty good but am not, and never will be cured. My point is if their is any chance of all see an oncologist. Do not be afraid to get 2nd opinions.

Your advantage over mine, should a less than desired diagnosis come back is that you're in the early stages (I was not), you're young (I was 70), and there have been many advances in treatment methods over the past several years. Check it out for peace of mind, then follow whatever advice you get.

Good luck,

Burt

Thank You Burt,

I rang a new doctor today who has been recommended by my mother's cousin and he said come in straight away so i have an appointment for early next week. From your message I questioned him about going to an oncologist and he said he will send me to see one mid next week. Your response has given me more positive thoughts and lots of help.

Thank you once again.... my thoughts and wishes are with you.

Jess

Hi Jess,

It seems like you're on the right track. Maintain positive thoughts. If things don't turn out the way you would have liked, still maintain positive thoughts. The great person is one who can turn something negative into something positive. I personally find much strength in meditation. If you have any questions feel free to write either via forum or my private email address.

Good luck

Burt
