I am a 54 year old male in good physical condition. During the past ten years my PSA levels have ranged from 1.6 to 2.2. In October 2005, during my annual physical, my PSA spiked to 5.5 and my PCP found a suspicious hard spot during the DRE. My urologist confirmed the irregularity and performed a biopsy. It confirmed cancer on one side. Subsequently, I had a bone scan (results were inconclusive) and an MRI (again inconlusive) performed at a major Boston hospital. My option at this point was to undergo a radical prostetomy (sp) which was done on December 15, 2005. The Urologist was confident that all was removed. The post operative biopsy showed nothing in the lymphnodes and good margins. Now it is two months later and I have just had my first PSA test in reddiness for my first appointment with an Oncologist. Is was 6.19. Is this normal? I'm bothered.

I would say it is not normal, after surgery I should be less than .2. You have the option of radiation and or hormone therapy. Your Doc will spell it out when you meet. Good Luck
