hi, i'm a 16 yr old girl and i have multiple swollen lymph nodes. i'm not sure why they're all happening, but the oldest ones are more than 4 months old now. at first they were all on the left side of my body, but now there are one or two on the right. i keep finding new ones, i have no infections, no illness, nothing at all that i know of. recently i had heart palpitations 4 times in 3 weeks , which i've also never had before. the doc did not find anything wrong with my heart... but i havent really asked about my lymph nodes. often i get pain where these swollen areas are and they often spread throughout my body. sometimes it's tingling and sometimes it's stabbing or pinching, and sometimes i'm just fine. the nodes are not all that large, but a few of them can be seen quite easily. some places where they are swollen include: breast, armpit, shoulder, rib area, sternum, leg, groin, neck, back of the ear, elbow, pelvis area, side of the neck, lots of pain in my shoulder blade and knee and cheek bone... it's really miserable and i'm not sure if this is normal and if i shouldkeep waiting for it to go away or if it could actually be a serious problem. i have also lost 10 lbs and i'm never really hungry... i get forced to eat, and i havent exercised at all, while tennis will start up soon. i'm also really tired, like all the time, and every friday when i'm not doing something or sat too i sleep like 14~16 hours and am still tired. i also have a skin abscess that has come back 3 times now. i dont know if all this is related or not but i'm hoping someone can help. any ideas on what this could be would be really great... as i am really stumped. thank you~

Lilu, do your parents know? If they do and you are still worried, they need to know. Then you NEED to tell EVERYTHING to your doctor. He or she needs to know everything you have just told us.
There are many reasons lymph nodes swell. Some might even cause your heart palpitations. But only a licensed physician can check them and tell you if the are related or not. Please, go to a doctor. _________________ Jim

Hi Lilu,
I agree with brainman. There's two things that need to happen. Notify your parents and see a doctor. If you're still in school, as a minimum visit the school nurse.
I have no medical qualifications, but do know from experience that your symptons MAY be a indicator of Lymphoma or some similar desease. Then again it may not, but in either case for peace of mind, please take that next step. Again from experience, I know that the longer you wait the worse it may become.
Prayers

hi, thanks for the replies
i was wondering if you can have an actual infection of the lymph nodes?
i read about infections causing them to swell
but not much about how and if you can get your lymph nodes infected
thanks

Young Lady
I am a survivor of Lymphoma and want you to read this very carefully. First of all the advise to get your parents attention is absolutley a must. Secondly, nobody here can help diagnose or tell you anything that might be going on. That can only be done through trained professionals. Lymphoma is not a death sentence unless it is ignored. There are several different types of Lymphoma and several different type of illness's that can mimic the symptoms your experienceing. Everyday you wait to take action puts you at a greater risk, grow up and do the adult thing...tell your parents, they love you and are there for these types of situations. Good Luck, now take some actionl.

Dont appologize dear, you did correct in asking, that shows maturity. Everybody here is concerned about you, we only want you to do what is in your best interest. I understand your fear, and feel it myself. Dont just leave, continue to ask questions...just bring an adult in your life into the picture. This is more that a young lady should try to bear on her own. Good Luck and May the Good Lord watch over you. You are in a lot of prayers.

Fantastic news!!! Lilu, I know that it is frightening to even think you might have Lymphoma. However, you also might not. It might be something else.
I certainly did not want to drive you away. However, I did want you to know in the strongest terms possible that what you are now doing is the right thing. If after you visit the doctor you need help in understanding what he/she said, we are here for you.
May you find peace and tranquility. _________________ Jim

lilu, I cannot begin to express the emotions I am feeling. I was on my father's computer when I read your post and ran to mine to reply. I cannot begin to imagine how worried you are. I too am worried.
If the thread needs to be moved or if you want it to be moved, I will gladly move it. In addition to specific information, you will need general support. We are here to offer that as well.
Please, keep us informed. _________________ Jim

Dear lilu
You did the very right thing about going to the doctor. Still, there is no diagnosis yet, since you are in the stage of investigation at this point. Please let us know how we can be of further assistance. We are happy to help as much as possible.
regards,
