I just found this forum and wanted to say hello to everyone and ask a question. I am 56 and had my prostate removed in April of 2004. I have been having my PSA checked every four months since then. My reading four months ago was .05. It was checked again last week and the reading was .3 so my doctor had me have another check using a different lab. Their reading was almost the same at .39. I have not talked to my doctor yet about what this could mean. I was just wondering if you gentleman have any thoughts on what the increasing levels may indicated and if more cancer treatments may be called for.
Thanks |

| That happened to me, when it went above .2 to .3 they said the next step was radiation. I had 35 EBRT. ?radiation treatments? 3 yrs later its going up again but that?s another story. Your next step is radiation. |

That happened to me. Had the surgery and a year later it went to 0.8. I immediately had IMRT 2 years ago and it is sitting at 0.2. Even though it is not 0, the doctors say I'm still in remission. They said they have seen this before. However, I'm still nervous about this.

| I had my first consultation with the Doc about starting the IMRT, had the CT scan, the simulation and treatment planning. Treatments will start in about a week or so. I'm feeling pretty good about it and ready to get started. You gentleman have any helpful hints about the treatments? |

Thom:
Don't take any antioxidants during the treatment. You can take L-glutamine to prevent radiation burns. Keep your weight very stable so the IMRT stays accurate. Exercise a little more during this period, like aerobics. Email me if you have any questions.

| Keep up the good spirit Andy, we are all facing the same battle, just at different rates. I have been at it 7 years, I am hoping lots more years to go. I would say you are getting the proper treatment for your situation. Wish you all the best and hang in there, you are very young for what you are going through. |
