Living in Irl need contacts for surgeons in US/Canada

We live in Dublin in Ireland, my sister who is 42 was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last week. We will hear on Thursday if they will operate in Ireland. There are only a handful of surgeons here that will do this operation and if they say no then we are going to try to find someone else who may perform the surgery. Can someone help me with addresses/phone numbers of hospitals in the US or anywhere else in the world that I can try and contact??

Please help me - I have to try and fight for her

I'm sorry to hear about your sister, my heart goes out to you and your family. I know of only a few hospitals in my area, as its not all that populated, however here are the ones that may be able to help you if you did not find a surgeon in Ireland:

-North Bay General Hospital, http://www.nbgh.on.ca/index.asp
I have only good things to say about this hospital, my father had part of his colon removed there, the waiting time for surgery was minimal (a few weeks) and the surgery itself went off without a hitch

-The Sudbury Regional Hospital, http://www.hrsrh.on.ca
Has the leading cancer center in Northern Ontario, however I'm pretty sure the waiting periods are longer.

(neither one is a private clinic/hospital, and are both funded by the Ontario government, so I'm not too sure how it works to get an appointment from out of Ontario)

Thank you so much for your reply. Unfortunately Valerie (my sister) had a second and third opinion and they have explained that it is inoperable. It's not a case of finding someone to do the operation it's more that it just can't be done. I still wanted to travel the world until I found a solution but she has said that she just wants to get treated at home where she can spend the last few months she's got with her children. The surgeons have said that the only hope (and it's only a chance in a million) is that they will give her chemo & as much radiation as she can handle and if the cancer shrinks at all they will then operate. She started the chemo last Friday.

She is the most fantastic person in the world and is giving strength to the rest of us. Whenever I get down about it I just go and talk to her and she keeps us going. I look at her three kids and it breaks my heart. It's just so unfair.

I am originally from India, but am working as a scientist for a major pharmaceutical company in Switzerland. I just want you all to know that my dad (55) was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and underwent the whipple procedure (whole of gall bladder and parts of pancreas, stomach, ileum and jejunum was removed). Although he has severe metastasis, the surgery was quite succesful. The surgery was done in Lakeshore hospital, Kerala, India. This is a very good hospital with great facillities (including helicopter landing) and hygeine. The surgeons are very very experienced (did 700 surgery), but the paramedical staff is not upto the mark. For those who dont have enough money to get it done in the west, i reccomend this place. The surgery costed 1800 dollars, while the entire stay (in air conditioned room + 10 days in intensive care unit) costed around 4000 dollars.
