My dad, 60 years old has definately been diagnosed with stage 3b head and neck cancer. Specifically there is a lymph node on the left side of his neck that contains the cancer. There is no cancer down the throat though. A CT scan about 3 weeks ago revealed a foreign mass in the lungs. He was admitted to the hospital 3 days ago to undergo a series of tests. A brain scan came back negative, a bone scan also came back negative (hopeful right?). The money is in a needle biopsy that they did of the lung yesterday. Unfortunately, that was Thursday which means that the results won't come back until the beginning of next week. I'm doing a lot of speculating. The doctor (oncologist) suggested two different cancers- the one in the neck for sure and perhaps something else in the lungs. The one in the neck is not metastic to the lungs- so I'm wondering what we may be dealing with- perhaps lung cancer (in a non smoker) or maybe non-hodgkins lymphoma. Does anyone have any experiences similar? Any suggestions? Question

Check for skin cancer too? Most cancers spread....skin cancer metastasises more than most and to the oddest unrelated places. But cancer always starts at one place and often breaks off to form another......they are not unrelated....just in different places. Where that place started is not really useful to know...as you still need to treat the whole person in the same way.
