My father in law just found out that his lung cancer has spread to his brain. He was told that 10 mets showed up on the CT Scan. He has been told there is nothing they can do, other than 5 radiation treatments. We are wondering how much time he will have and what his quality of life will be.

Hi NormaJean....welcome!

Nobody can give you a timeline, as each has their own at God's hand....but I can tell you this: Small Cell Lung Cancer is aggressive and it sucks!

My mom was diagnosed 7/25/08 and did not have mets to her brain, and she passed away on 3/24/09. She went through 4 months of chemo and then whole brain radiation to prevent spread to her brain.

If possible, go with your father to his doctors appointments and ask the questions you need answered. Love your father while you have him. I pray for all who are here...
