Hello all,

My friend has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Recently they took her off chemotherapy because it was damaging her heart. Do they often resume chemo after problems like this, or is this not a good sign for her?

There are a number of chemos which have severe side effects such as this, and yes, the responsible oncologist ceases their use until it can be decided if there is a possible alternative.

The problem is finding that alternative with so many possible chemos out there, many of which are vastly expensive.

As a matter of interest, why have they not gone for surgical treatment?

She has had one breast removed thus far, but from what I understand, inflammatory breast cancer covers the chest area like a blanket, making it very difficult to remove.
