I know the title of this thread makes me sound like a major bitch since alot of you prolly are going thru worse but nothing will go back to normal for me.
Well my name is Jeremy i was diagnosed Sept 3 2008 the day before my 12th birthday. I'm 13 now and its been tough. I've gone thru the 5 steps of grieving countless time which I'm guessing you guys have too and I still repeat it alot. When I was given the news I was more frozen than sad, and before it could sink in I was stuck bedridden for 1 month and a half. I went thru a Kidney Failure from a reaction to chemo which sparked things terribly I was moved to the P-ICU and strapped to a bedd with a new dialisis port on the top of my right shoulder and a large machine by my side for several hours a day. I luckily responded well mostly of my age i heard and things were looking good until my last day in the hospital I under went a siezure from extreme high blood pressure, luckily my mom was only outside getting water which prolly boosted my chances many folds. Since this I think cancer has shaped me alot and I'm now a little more mature but I'm still a kid and these things are circumstances I shouldn't have to be going thru at this amazing part of my early teenage life and I think I've been restricted from doing things I love. I used to be an active soccer player, only a few months before I was diagnosed we had placed 4th in state. Idk how well much you guys have heard of the chemo "vincristine" but its pretty much reuining my life. I can run now but at my best a jog and for about 50 feet... The doctors say its cuz I've been sitting/laying down for 1 year but I dont think so.
yea... that was long... thats what SHE SAID :0 jk but srsly have any1 had cancer as a kid or have a kid that had it, and how long did it take for him to get back into regular pace |

Hello dear, I may not be 13...but I am 18. I was diagnosed in June. I used to be on dance team, but since the diagnosis I have had to cut back a little just so that my body can keep up. Give your body the amount of time it needs, youll be disappointed if you rush yourself and wind up feeling horrible again. Last week I was given an estimated 6 months, so feel blessed that you are moving forward dear child. Dont ever take for granted the time that you have. I WILL BEAT CANCER. because i am strong willed, but if I do go, then I have to understand God intended that for me. So, maybe 50 feet isnt what you were aiming for, but its more than none right?
Try to find the good in the battle, not the bad.
Remember, your stronger because of what you have been through, use that mental strength to resume the strength you once had in running. I know the thought of being young and wanting the world back, wanting to escape the cancer and just live a normal young life, but, really? why be normal, be proud of what you have been through and be proud of yourself each step along the way to regaining your strength
youll be in my prayers |

Hi Jeremy. I too am not 13 but way much older . I am so sorry that your life has been so turned upside down by cancer. I did not see what kind of cancer you have but it doesn't matter that much. I know from personal experience how devastating any cancer can be. I have never been a great "cheer leader" so I will not try but just say hang in there. How long it will take to get back to anything close to normal will greatly depend on the type of cancer you have, the treatments you receive, and on your own personal inner strength.
