My freind was in remission after having Hodgkins disease twice and he has got it again.
What exactly do i say to him?
I cant say things like ` i know how you feel`
becuse i dont.

I am currently just joking with him about stuff that lads talk about and just `making fun with him` but i dont think that i can sustain that and at a point things will change and i can`t just pretend nothing has changed forever.

How should i treat him?

Talk about it. Cancer doesn't really change WHO we are. Talk to your friend about how you feel. If you can be a support to him, do. Research about the disease online, learn what to expect and what he may be going through. Try not to just abandon him because you don't know what to say. In fighting this disease and all the uncertanties it brings, normalcy is a blessing. Friends and family that stick are invaluble. You can be sure that many of his friends also won't know how to approach him, and instead of talking about it they just disappear. There is a lot of help for you out there too. Check out the thread on "Incredible Disappearing Friends" on the Lymphoma.com forums. It will give you a good perspective of your friends point of view. This may help in breaching the subject. Also there are links on many of the lymphoma websites just for caregivers, families and friends. This may also help. Hope you're able to stick it out for him, he'll need you!
