Has anyone out there had irinotecan(CPT-11) Chemotherapy treatment for GBM? I was wondering what was done for the side affects of this drug......cramping,diarrhea,loss of appitite and fatigue. My finacee hasn't eaten anything in about a week and he's been sleeping all day and night.Has anyone had the same experience with this type of chemo??If so what was done about it?

Hi Deb,
My son David is on the CPT-11 protocol with tamoxifin as well. Visit his site to read more: www.caringbridge.org/fl/david
My home # is also on his site if you ever need to talk. Dave was dx in May 2003 with GBM and the first round of treatment with temador did not work and the tumor grew back, same place, it was removed and he had a port implanted and began CPT-11 under protocol from Duke. This began in Sept 04....it was tough going at first and he had diahrea for 11 days no food only liquids, which he had to constanly replace.....they had him on immodium every 2 hours....and then it just stopped...gradually he was able to handle it...he's inschool full time now (except his chemo Friday's) and this gives him a day or so to regroup....but it's mostly fatigue...he basically just eats Subway...and when he feels any gastro issues arise, he drinks his immodium.. but it took about 8 months to get 'used' to the protocol...he still occasionally gets the runs...but he's really big on immodium. Anytime you want to talk call or email.
