My child had a mole biopsy done and I am worried that it may be something serious. The Dr. said it looked a little strange and decided to go ahead and do a biopsy. I assume if he thought it needed a biopsy, it is serious. Does anyone know the percentage of biopsies that come back OK as opposed to being cancerous? Thank you for any help.

It is common for my dermatologist to biopsy all moles that are removed. Better safe than sorry, they didn't know the mole they removed actually turned out to be Melanoma, so it goes both ways. I wouldn't worry quite so much over the biopsy process, this is fairly common and in my case usually came back negative except one and I'm 32.

hey ltlthor,

Just reading some of your posts. I was diagnosed with an early melanoma at age 28 and I'm now 31 and have had no problems. I was advised to do certain follow-up things. I did some but not all. I commend you for offering your advice on this forum and I wish you the best of luck in your treatment. If you ever need to talk about anything, I'm here. I check this forum regularly.
