I went to a specialist about 2 weeks ago after having an enlarged lymph node in my neck on the left hand side (submandibular node) which has been there for about 2 months now. He wasnt sure what it was so he had me do a CT Scan which I did. All it showed was an enlarged lymph node on the left side. Surprise Surprise. I have had pressure in my neck particularly between my eyes and by my cheekbones and behind my ear although it hasnt really been that intense of pressure. The specialist took me off of Augmentin and put me on Allegra D and Some kind of Nasal Steroid. That has helped with the head pressure but it is still there subtly. I was thinking it was just a sinus infection because i have had thick white mucus coming out of my nose on occasion, but it seems if it was a sinus infection that the allegra D, the nasal spray, or the Augmentin would have cleared that up. Besides the specialist said that the sinus infection shouldnt cause an enlarged lymph node. I cant figure it out and I was thinking it could possibly be lymphoma. The node is close to 1 inch in size and seems to fluctuate. It tends to be bigger in the morning and gets smaller as the day progresses. Then the cycle starts again but never really gets any smaller than a certain size. I have plenty of appetite, I havent lost any weight, I can carry on normal activities. I am 24 years of age and my grandfather just died of lymphatic cancer of the lungs which kind of scares me. I dont want to jump to conclusions. Anyone have any ideas of what this could be causing this swelling of my lymph node?

It may be some simple as an infection. You could ask your Dr to do a biopsy just to be sure. If you don't feel like your concerns are being validated please get a 2nd opinion!! I started having chest pains and my first Dr said it was caused by carrying my kids. At the time kids were 2 1/2 and 5 months- never had pain like it before. Went back again 2 wks later, same diagnosis, and he laughed saying I wasn't 18 anymore, I'm 26. Changed Docs, foud out I had a 13cm mass in my chest, had it removed, just got results of biopsy- Hodgkins Lymphoma. Moral of the story- You KNOW your body, if you don't agree with the dr GET A 2nd OPINION!! Hope it turns out to be nothing!!
