Hello Everybody,

My Mother has a cancer (it is leukemia). She is taking GLIVEC since about 10 months. The second bone marrow examination has showed small improvement (in comparison to the first one which was done at the beginning of treatment (about 1 year ago)). One thing I am concerned about is the size of my mother’s liver. Doctor said that the liver is about 3 cm bigger than it was at the beginning of treatment. As far as I know the liver enlargement is one of the latest stages in leukemia, after which the ill person has only 3 till 6 months left. But in this case I would say that the liver enlargement does not mean that my mother is in the latest leukemia stage but it is connected with some other reasons. I think so because the marrow examination has showed improvement and I think that the liver enlargement is connected with GLIVEC and its negative effects. Or maybe I am wrong? Someone who has a little bit experience with leukemia and GLIVEC is pleased to write me something about my mother’s case. Maybe someone knows how to protect my mother’s health from negative effects of GLIVEC.

Best Regards

Chris
