Hello,

My mom was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in November 2004 and had a full hysterectomy and radiation therapy but not chemotherapy. They thought she was at stage IIb (or c) although it seems they must have been wrong, but that's another question. Now, they have found cancer in her para-aortic lymph node and they assume it is widespread.

I am desperate for information on recurrent endometrial cancer. From what I have read, no one survives, even if they respond well to the chemo. Could that be true? Has anyone survived this? I can't find anything hopeful.

Also, where can I find good information about which chemo drugs are best for this? The doctor wants to use Carboplatin and Paclitaxel, but I have read about other more agressive combinations.

Any answers to any of these questions would be most appreciated. I am in anguish!

Hi, I wish I could give you a definitive answer to your questions. My mother informed me that she knows of a woman who has survived recurrent endometrial cancer. I was diagnosed with stage III-C, and cancer was found in my para-aortic lymph node as well, however that was no spreading to other organs. I can understand your frustration. I dont have the medical knowledge to answer your questions, but apparently there are survivors of recurrent endometrial cancer out there. Your mother and yourself will be in my prayers. Please keep us posted.
