Nine months after being diagnosed with lung and liver cancer, my mother passed away.

The last 2 days before the end, she was under morphine and she didn't have her senses at all. It feels nice to think that she passed away peacefully, while "sleeping". My brother, my sister and myself were all together in the room with her at the time, holding her hand, rethinking of all the jokes she was telling to us after she found out she was sick, admiring her spirit.

I want to thank everyone in this forum, for your messages, encouraging words and kind thoughts.

May God bless her and us all.

Thank you.

May your mom rest in peace.
Death of a close one reminds us of our life's purpose.
Death is the ultimate reality and let us do some good before us.

I am saddened to hear of your mom's passing. It sounds like she was not in pain at the end, and that is always comforting. I lost my dad to lung cancer last June, so I have walked in your shoes in losing a dear loved one. Here's a poem that may help. I know it helps me! I think the most powerful line is: " Grief is the price of love and being loved." How true.

Wishing you and your family well!
Bethany

Through Grief
There is no way round grief, only a way through
Grief cannot be hurried.
You need time to mourn and accept tragedy
Grief and bereavement come to us all.
You will find it impossible to accept.
You cannot believe it has happened to you.
You yearn for them.
Grief is the price of love and being loved.
And you must grieve - you need to release your feelings.
It is natural to cry and sob.
As natural as smiling an laughing.
Do not deny or hide your grief - accept it.
It is a healing process, a way of coming to terms with loss.
Let your tears and feelings come.
Do not bottle them up.
Crying is not self pity - it is a necessity - so cry when you need to.
Eventually you will come through that long, dark tunnel.
