Hi all,

I am 19 years old and had a liver transplant for unknown reasons 9 months ago. About 10 days ago I discovered a swollen lymph node on my neck. It is painless and I have not had any recent infections that I have been aware of. I have no other symptoms, and ordinarily I wouldn't be this concerned, but I am aware that lymphoma is a known, albeit rare, side effect of the anti-rejection drug prograf that I've been taking since the transplant. I have a doc's appt tomorrow, and a routine blood test scheduled for monday (my last one a month ago was normal). The thing is, I'm leaving for 6 weeks in Europe in one week and really don't feel like being troubled with med problems right now! Razz Any chance I should be worried?

Hey Kate,
Im sorry 2 hear bout ur recent health problem.. i hope ur feeling better Wink
I really dont want 2 scare u but i would kinda b a little worried about that lump just 4 the simple fact that i was diagnosed a month after my 20th bithday last year in november and i found a swollen lump in my neck 2(just above my colar bone) which was painless also and i really had no other major symptoms either, just itching like crazy! wen i got it checked out my doctor gave me a blood test and it came back normal as if i was healthy.. but unforunatley it wasnt the case, it wasnt until i got a needle biopsy done that they got suspisious so i had a CT sacn done and it was then that my worse fears had become a reality! It seems 2 me that ur plans 2 go oversea has really come at a bad time.. but i do stress that u get it checked out properly.
keep me posted!
all the best
shanelle Wink
but do urself a favour and dont jump 2 conclusions til u no 4 sure

Hi Kate,

I hate to tell you this but I agree with Shanelle. Vacations can be postponed but serious potential medical problems need to be diagnosed, and as strange as it seems most of my fellow patients that I've talked to were only diagnosed after a biopsy, CAT-scan or PET-scan. For some reason blood tests often come back normal. For your own piece of mind I suggest you see another doctor with the capability of giving you one of these test if necessary.

I send you love and strength.
