Hi

I wanted to know if someone or knows someone who had "Total Hip Replacement" surgery? also if for both hips?

I've heard that people who had it recovered in just 1-1/2 months from just one hip but also wanted to know how long will the entire process (surgery, recovery, surgery, etc) take if both hips were to be done? thanks

Hello all. I recently had the total hip replacement surgery early march and I'm currently recovering. The doctor replaced my ball and stem but fortunately didhn't put in a socket because my socket still looked good so I'm glad about that. I feel like the terminator with my metal hip! And from the sight of my leg you can see that it looks a little wider, little different from my left but not that different. It was tough the first week trying to deal with the pain and the metal sutures. I would say that the pain scale was somewhere from a 1-4 but not severe. I took vicodin pills for about 2 weeks and then stopped. Currently I'm following the exercises and carefully following the precautions. I would say that within 2 weeks things will start to pick up as far as walking around more with the crutches than the walker and soon enough once the month passes I should be able to walk on my own. It'll take 3 months for the hip to heal as I'm told but things are looking good and I'm happy that things are coming back to normal! WOOHOO!
