My brother in law was diagnosed in May during a hospital admission for a stent in his heart. He was put on Gleevac. His nineteen year old daughter was diagnosed two weeks later for Non Hodgkins Lymphoma and has been in the hospital for two months. Has anyone else had this happen in the same family? There has to be a connection that they both were diagnosed so close together. Could they have gotten these cancers from an environmental poison of some kind, a virus? Needless to say the family is devastated. I am worried about my sister and her other two children ( a young boy and a teen girl).

hi,
was ur brother in law diagnosed with non hodgkins aswell as his daughter 2 weeks later?
something similar happened 2 me and my dad.. i was diagnosed at 20 years old with hodgkins lymphoma, and in that same week my dad developed skin cancer on his face that had 2 b cut out immediately... my dad and i think that he developed this skin cancer coz of the stress and devestation of finding out about me.
But if ur brother in law got diagnosed with NHL and then his daughter 2 weeks later, that is just unfortunate coincidence.
i dont no much about NHL, but is it more likely 2 run in ones family than hodgkins lymphoma?
sorry bout the bad news!

My brother in law was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (in remission) and my niece was diagnosed two weeks later with B cell Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. I don't believe it was a coincidence, I believe they were somehow poisoned environmentally or it was virus related. I do believe stress is a big factor in getting cancer. I lost my father, my grandfather was ill and my grandmother was just plain psycho. I blame my breast cancer on the stress during those years.
