15 & worried... possible malignat cancer? What is this ?

Okay, I am only 15 years old and I have a strange looking birthmark. It is a little odd shaped but not too strange around the edges. Maybe it is a little. It's kinda reddish-orange around the edges. And it doesn't hurt.
Mine does have a little flecks of strange color. I've had it for all my life... and I have no history of skin cancer/cancer in general in my family.

Is this possible in a 15 year old?

It is not too big. Like, a pencil eraser. What should I do??? PLEASE HELP.

And the irony of this is that I want to be an oncologist in the future.

just wanted to say hello!, Im about to leave for doctor appts but saw this this morning. I wouldnt worry too much about it BUT! I WOULD let your parents or parent know about your concerns. I have to say unfortunatly that 15 is not too young for malignancy, but keep in mind its RARE!, being tou have no family history that you know of also helps. In my family we have had every type of skin cancer which led me last year at 45 to having mine removed , it didnt hurt either but at my age and history and how it looked (Black) was telling sign for me at least, the other one I had removed looked more like what your describing, it WASNT malignant, so I would say the odds are totally in yoiur favor.

Im no doctor of any kind so I cant speculate as to what it is, but for your peace of mind ask someone to take you to have your pedeatric Doctor look at it, if they think it looks unusual (or has changed over the years you have had it) then they can refer you to the right person.

I DO check my kids who are 11 and 20 because of the family history epsically m y 11 year old who is a swimmer year round and will problaby have her skin checked in the next year or so, it cant hurt.

will be thinking of you and hoping you talk to family. REALLY glad you posted here , dont worry too much really its not worth it, but Know you are not alone in your concerns, Im sure many young people worry about these things at times.

Mirela,

Go to a derm immediately. It is recommended to be seen yearly if not twice /year by a dermatologist to identify any skin cancers one may have. It doesn't sound bad what you have, especially if it has not been changing over the years.
