Hey all,
I wanted to say hi and see what’s going on with everyone. Let me just say that I was a smoker for seven years and not a day goes by now that I don’t wish I never picked up a cigarette. I’m not here to chastise anybody, but I do have some solutions if anybody is really thinking about quitting smoking. When I made the leap a few months ago, I did use the Nicorette gum which got a little pricey. I still use it, but my cravings aren’t so bad that I feel like morphing into the Hulk. I know it’s tough and you probably get antsy just thinking about it, but let me tell you; you suffer the consequences. Even though I stopped, I wake up every morning coughing and can barely speak a lot of times. Again, I’m not preaching but if anyone wants help I’m leaving a few links for items that will help. Get them on here instead of spending $100 at the store every week like I did. I’ve been getting my Nicorette from here for about 2 months. Feel free to ask me any questions as a former smoker.
Good Luck!

Its been a month since i stopped smoking cold turkey. I dont feel any different and I still get cravings once in a while. The fist couple weeks was hell but its getting better now. Im happy i stopped.
Been a smoker for 14 years till my friend was diagnosed with a brain Tumor. I know a brain tumor has nothing to do with smoking but i know cancer is a bitch. Why risk it? You could get some many different types of cancer smoking. Thats what helped me quit |

Congratulations on your success with quitting smoking!
It does take a little longer than a month to clear all the crud out of your lungs. I coughed a lot more, during my first month off, than I did while I smoked.
So pleased to hear someone did a positive step to help their future!

Butts,
It took me forever to even make the quasi-quit. You really may want to investigate the electronic cigarettes. Although you still get the nicotine, just like wearing a patch, you at least lose all the tar and toxins. Plus it simulates smoking, so the transition was amazingly easy. I never blinked an eye about even thinking of quitting, but these made it possible for me. I was truly amazed.
I DO call it a quasi-quit because all the habits are still the same and the nicotine is still there, so no withdrawal at all. Eventually I hope to gradually reduce the nicotine to zero and then I can quit completely. For me, this was a huge step in the right direction though.
You need to do your research, but there is a large forum online for e-cigarettes where you can get a ton of info.

My neigborhs broder which is well into his adult life 50yrs old has stoped smoking a year n half because he almost died cause of it.
He started at 15yrs old or somewhere around that age and when his body could not handle it anymore he was at the hospital. He said he felt death close to him and stuff like that.
Anyways he just quit like that cold turkey. He just smokes that flavor huka stuff so his body can ease of, But none the less he is a changed man,
Its just sad that he had to be 50 and nearly die to stop.
Think off all the $ he threw away to kill himself.

Hi,
Well its very good that you have left the smoking.
Obviously you know how much it will be going to harm you.SO i am literally very happy that your are out of this habit.
I mean its commendable that for 14 years u had been in this habit but
you left.
Thanks |

| My husband and I are both hard core smokers and have been for over 40 years. My father died of lung cancer and smoke until he went into a coma just before his death. My husband was diagnosed with Nasal Pharyngeal cancer last month and his radiologist told him he had to quit smoking or treatment would be useless. He tried to quit cold turkey and it worked for a couple of days then he went back smoking only first a couple of cigarettes a day and in a couple of days it went back to about a pack a day. His radiation starts on Monday and he wants to be cigarette free. Quitting smoking is about the only thing my husband has not done. He is a recovering alcoholic (9 yrs) and a recovering drug addict (9 yrs also). But, cigarettes are hard to quit. I quit once cold turkey for 6 months and never stopped wanting a cigarette the whole time. Don't know why I picked them up again. But, I remember staying in bed the first 3 days - so mad and frustrated because I couldn't have a cigarette. I had no desire to try to function. I can't help my husband quit, because I am not going to quit. His plan is to wake up Monday morning and go to chemo and then go to radiation and never smoke again. Good Luck, I say. Quitting is hard and I respect anyone who can quit. I know my future has cancer written all over it but I can't stop. |
