Hi I was just wondering if anyone has had to do the Gallium scan? They prep you with something call Fleet Phospho-soda which is basically saline based. My daughter had it in the hospital and every time she would drink it it would make her throw up after a little while. When she threw it up they would make her drink it again, and again, and again. She has to drink 3 oz which does not sound like much but believe me to her it might as well be a gallon. They say to mix it with juice, which she says it does not help. I guess what I am asking is does anyone have any tips or little tricks to make this a little easier on her or to help it stay down better. She has to start it about 6 pm tonight.

Any advice would be appreciated.

try the juice first, without the nasty stuff. After that, drink the stuff in small amounts. Let her take her time, and go back to the juice if she starts to gets sick again.

Hi, Laurie,
I am surprised to hear that they are having Randi drink the isotope in solution. It's been almost seven years since my last Gallium scan, and I was always injected intraveneously with the necessary 'tags'. Puzzling . . .

It was not the isotope they had her drink it was the prep to clean out the bowel Fleet Phospho soda which is a saline kind of based drink, but it is really gross. She was injected with the isotope on Friday through her port and it had to circuate trough her body for 2-3 days. So this morning we went and had it done. We will not know any anwers to any of the tests until maybe end fo this week, hopefully sooner.
