About 3 1/2 weeks ago I noticed a swollen node in my neck. However, I didn't pay it much attention seeing as I was getting over a really, really bad chest cold (probably the worst cold I've ever had). Today I went for my 22-week obsteric check up (pre-natal) and it's still there! Granted it's not nearly as big, but some days it seems like it swells, goes down, swells, goes down. I have an appt. with an ENT on Apr. 26th. I'm a little concerned about how this will be approached in pregnancy. I don't feel comfortable with general anesthesia (for node removal) until after the baby is born. Moreover, I won't consider induction before 34 weeks. I know most of you probably don't know much about lymphoma in pregnancy so let's just ignore that little fact for now, with these questions. Very Happy

Can doctor's perform needle-biopsies with local anesthesia?
Or remove an entire node from the neck with local anesthesia (instead of general)?
How reliable are needle biopsies?
Since most pregnancy related lymphomas ARE aggressive, should I expect the node to be significantly larger after 3 weeks (instead of smaller)?
I haven't noticed any swelling else where and I feel pretty good. Would waiting another 12 weeks for treatment on an aggressive lymphoma be disasterous?

Miss_Melanie_2,
If your swollen lymph node is superficial, a needle biopsy can easily be done with local anesthesia like lidocaine. Please see your physician and have this lymph node evaluated so that an answer can be found if this is something to worry about or not. Best wishes,
