5 squamous cell skin cancers since June - why so many? HELP!

Has anyone had experience with getting frequent squamous cell skin cancers? I am a 53 year old female. I have had 10 squamous cell skin cancers altogether, but I've had 5 new ones just since the end of June. The doctor has no more than just excised one when..... I go back to get my stitches out and..... I have another suspicious place to show him.....which turns out to be another squamous cell cancer. I am really getting frustrated! I tried to ask the doctor if this was out of the ordinary, but really didn't get much of an answer from him.

Please let me know. I am so tired of getting cut on. I just want them to go away. Sad

Hi- sorry to hear of your pain, but also your frustration. Can you see someone else, or get some information off somone else. Here in Australia- alot of the time they will burn/freeze them off. Only the ones that really concern them- Melanoma, will they biopsy and remove. They have stop alot of removing spots by cutting.

Australia is well known for the Skin Cancer Country. So i like to believe we are right at the top with technology in this area.

I'm also a BeautyTherapist- and have been educated that alot of cell squamous Cancers are caused by past sun damage. Even up to 20 yrs earlier. (and even a serious burn or year of tanning, can cause a timeline of the squamous cells to appear....in a row, 10 20 years later) THOUGH i don't know how reliable this is information is- we were educated this.

Don't know if that helps at all ^ , but think positive. At least they are finding them. Stay strong- get more information and advice. Also- refuse to leave untill he explains all of your concerns and explains them slowly and easy words so you understand.

Thanks for your help. I see him tomorrow to get out my last set of stitches. Although now I have a place on my neck that I need to show him that I know is another squamous cell. In just two weeks it is the size of a pencil eraser.

He told me last time that he really didn't know why I was getting so many. Just too much time in the sun. I did hear from a "friend of a friend" that used to go to this same practice. He left because he said they were to happy to cut on you.

I have had several burned off, too, but all the ones they've cut out have been the big and fast growing kind.

I am grateful that I am finding them early. I'm a little paranoid about looking for them now, but I have had breast cancer twice (5 years apart) and I am really sensitive to what is going on in my body.

I read your story and I am sorry for all that you have had to go through too. I wish you good health for the future.

sorry to hear you have so many squamous cancers! i have had 2 basal cells in the past year and go Tuesday to have another one biopsied to see if it is another basal cell cancer.. i'm pretty sure it is, looks just like the other two.. the first one was on my nose, 2nd one was under my eye and this one is under my eye brow. all in the same area of my face pretty much. i'm assuming its from all the tanning i did years ago Sad

at least you know what to look for and are catching it early. good luck with everything!
