Mom went in the hospital today....doctor told her that she only has a few more weeks left. I hope I can get through this.

I heard those words a few months ago about my father. It was the most painful thing I've ever heard in my life. Each word was like a sharp stab right in my heart. Luckily the doctor was very compassionate and tried his best to soften the blows, but still it was unbearable. He passed away in March, and it was incredibly difficult, so I know what you are going through and I'm very sorry you have to go through this.

I won't lie, this will be hard and it will take all of your strength to get through it, but somehow you will. You have to, for your mom who I'm sure wants nothing more than for you to live a life full of happiness and not tears, and for yourself who has the power to take what your mother gave you and create something beautiful out of it.

For now just please try your best not to let your sadness keep you from enjoying and cherishing whatever time you have left. Take this time to tell her what she means to you and to show her you love her. The last few days I got to spend with my dad were the most emotional and important of my life and I will never forget them. It was so hard to see him like that but I am glad I forced myself to stay there by his side through the worst moments.

Again, i am very sorry that you had to recieve this news and go through this. I truly hope that someday you will find some peace and happiness again. In the meantime you will be in my thoughts.

Your words really touched me. It was exactly what I needed to hear. I feel like I am the only person going through this in the whole world and its such a relief to know that there are people out there that have been through it. thank you for taking the time to write back to me.
