Ok, so I work for a family with two young children. Mom went into the hospital Monday with terrible headaches and today had a massive brain tumor removed. We won't know specific details til tomorrow, but are being told it is pretty serious and malignant. I have not been able to see her because I care for the children, and since she has been in the hospital I have been picking up more hours so dad can be with her.

It looks like she will now be in the hospital for a bit longer, and I am planning on going to see her soon. I really want to put together a "care package" for her for the hospital. What kinds of things would you put in? She's really a girly type person, so I was thinking about some fun stuff to make her feel better, also some stuff to keep her kinda occupied while shes just stuck in the hospital. Let me know!

Dear Cmarcus, I was sorry to see that noone has replied to yr post yet so decided I would put my "2 cents worth" in. My brother has a brain tumour & was in hospital for 2 mths. I purchased an MP3 player for him & borrowed his CD's from home & burned them onto the MP3. He loved this because at night when he was on his own laying there (he has been disabled from his tumour & can't move about without help) contemplating life he was able to plug the ear pieces in & meditate with his favourite music as therapy for him. Friends & family purchased things like books & mags but because his eye sight was affected by tumour he couldn't read more than a few words. A friend of his came in with massage oil & used to do Reiki massage for him. I even massaged his feet on several occasions for him (I don't know how close you r 2 this person & foot massage is a fairly intimate thing). Family members cooked sweet treats for him like butterscotch & pineapple tarts which were kept in the fridge in his room for him to indulge in when he wanted. I hope this gives you some ideas for yr bosse's wife! Being a woman I would like massage oils & good (perfumed) handcream, some body moisturiser, maybe a nice notebook & pen so she can do some journalling while she's in hospital (if she's able to). All the best wishes to you, what a thoughtful person you are. God bless you. Cheers Aussie Angie.
