Does Prostasol work?

Has anyone used Prostasol? Does it work? Why has no one mentioned it? Thanks.

AIUI, Prostasol is essentially the same herbal conglomeration as PC-SPES and PC PLUS. Last year, PC-SPES was found to be contaminated with various prescription drugs (not, of course, shown on the label) and was banned. So whatever effect it had was from the prescription drugs, not the herbs.

IOW, it was a scam.

AFAIK, there has been no clinical trial of Prostasol reported in any professional peer-reviewed medical publication. For that reason alone, I would steer well clear of it.

There are conscienceless thieves out there who wish to exploit the desperation of many cancer patients, and will do just about anything to do so.

You responded to my post on 5/4/05 and mentioned a paper you could point me to and I am interested but when I tried to e mail back to you I keep getting sending failure stating that the address is wrong or it is a bogus alias. Prostasol Works!!!! I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer 3 1/2 years ago at age 46 (gleason =6, PSA = 6.7, 7 out of 12 biopsy samples 10-60% tumor.

Changing my lifestyle (juicing, detoxing, fasting) and taking Prostasol (from Dr. Donsback) helped me get my PSA down to 2 (from 6.7) in 4 months and PSA= 0.2 in a year and a half after I found that it was more effective when not taken with food. At 0.2 I did experience estrogenic effects (tender swollen left nipple and despression) however I was able to alleviate the side effects by taking (DIM - made from broccoli, found in any Health Food Store). I've been told by others who have metastized PC that Prostasol is more effective than hormonal drug treatments with less side effects. Prostasol also works after patients become hormonal refractive.

Prostasol is not made by the same company as PC SPES, Dr. Donsback has insured no estrogen contamination and has added additional natural substances to improve prostate health including Nattokinase which addresses the fear of blood clots due to the high amount of phyto-estrogens in the herbal ingrediants.

There were clinical trials in Europe (including double-blind) and Dr. Donsback can get you a copy if you ask for it when you call their "Let's Talk Health" phone number.

Don't listen to "Skeptic Steve" - I'm a Space Analyst and analyzed everything on my own body (measuring PSA every 2 months and hormones), I'm sure HE DIDN't. I can tell you what worked and what didn't. Prostasol will be part of my health protocol for the rest of my life.

I did get HDR Brachytherapy a year ago but it didn't do as much for me as changing my lifestyle and taking PROSTASOL!!!!

There is also another promising supplement called Reishi which is one of the main ingredients in the PC hope product. I am not so sure what to think of all the mix of herbs and what to make of each of their values in PC Hope. Read the thread under lung cancer forum about Reishi mushroom extract.

I have recurrent prostate cancer. In 1999 I had a radical prostatectomy but shortly after that, my PSA began to rise. By late 2005 it had reached 15 and was doubling in less than a year. After two months of four capsules of Prostasol per day, my PSA had dropped to 0.3. Two months later at two capsules per day it was still 0.3. Two months later at one capsule per day it was 0.1.

I am now taking one capsule every other day and will have another PSA test in about a month. It does work and it is easier for me to live with than Lupron which I was on for three months in 2001.

I don't know how long this will continue to hold my PSA down but it works for me now and the side effects are relatively mild at my current dosage. It is certainly cheap enough to try for two months.

Let's hear it for Prostasol. Had radical prostatectomy in 1992. Some cells escaped the capsule, however my PSA remained low for 11 years. Two years ago it began to rise and in Nov. 2005 it was 1.4. My urologist recommended immediate hormone therapy. I didn't like the sound of it. Went to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla. CT and bone scan OK -- it had not metasticized. (Colonoscopy OK as well.) Mayo recommended radiation therapy immediately or no later than after my PSA had risen to 2.0. Didn't like that procedure either. At Dr. Donsbach's recommendation I have been taking one capsule daily of his PROSTASOL for one month. My PSA has now dropped by more than half to 0.6. There are no noticeable side effects except perhaps increased tinnitus (ringing in the ears) for awhile. No painful nipples, no depression or anything else I can determine, although I am taking the minimum dosage. My next appointment with my urologist is May and the PSA may have diminished even further. I will be most interested in his reaction. I am very relieved I did not go for the hormones or radiation. I think I read somewhere that PROSTASOL is not refractory? Could someone comment on this?

After one Prostasol capsule a day my PSA has gone from 1.4 to 0.6 to 0.8 and yesterday, 0.9. I had hoped it would remain around 0.6 or decrease even further and although the rise is slow I'm going to increase to 2 capsules of P. a day and check it in a month. Anyhow, I had the first visit with my local urologist since October, when with a PSA of 1.3 he advised hormonal therapy. Advising him of my Prostasol usage for the first time, he was not familiar with the product (but was with PC SPES). His comment was that "it only slows it down" -- radiation therapy being the only thing that "kills it". This last procedure I refuse to undergo, for various reasons. He asked if there was any estrogen in Prostasol. None shows by name on the bottle, although some side effects seem identical with those of conventional estrogen therapy. Further, the doctor said that if estrogen was present, that usage on a long term basis can cause a breakdown of calcium in the body which can then lead to osteoporosis.

Anyone aware of estrogen in Prostasol? Thanks.

I'm sure by now your question is moot, but for the benifit of recent readers, I would like to offer my experiences with Prostasol. I have been wrestling with elevated PSA levels for nearly 2 years. My numbers would range from 9-13ng/ml. Finally, I succumbed and had a biopsy to discover cancer in my prostate. I have a Gleason of 3+3. This gives me some time to explore options. Last month, I was introduced to prostasol by Larry Pope of [url]Nutrition2000.com[/url]. My last PSA was done in April, 2006. I clocked in at 11.5ng/ml. After one month, I took another PSA and reduced it to 5.7ng/ml Razz

I have another 5 weeks before I'm scheduled for HIFU. In another 3-4 weeks, I'll recheck my PSA. If it lowers to 2-3ng/ml, or better, I'm going to have to re-evaluate everything.

Best of luck to everyone in this journey. If you have time to explore options, I'd suggest trying prostasol. At $70 per bottle, there's little downside. I think you will be pleased with its results.
