|
|
I have never been diagnosed with breast cancer, so I hope that is ok to ask questions here.
I was taking a shower yesterday and ran my hand over my breast and found what felt like a long hard cord in my right breast. I thought I was imagining things, so I felt again and sure enough. It runs the length of by breast, which aren't big, from the top to the nipple area. I imagine it feels like a hard vein.
It is tender, but only to the touch.
I am 45 and breast fed my nearly 5 year old son until he was 3. I don't know if any of this is relevant, but thought I'd throw it out there. I called the doctor's office yesterday and they were about to go home for the weekend and couldn't be bothered with me and just said make an appointment for next week.
My mind is going crazy trying to figure this out: is it cancer? blood clot blocking a vein? milk duct clogged? What?
Any ideas? |

Firstly - Don't Panic!
Secondly - There is no way a diagnosis can be made on the net.
Try not to worry about it (worry can make it seem worse). Phone the doctor's surgery first thing on Monday morning and insist on an appointment, emphasising your concerns. It does not sound like cancer, but the only way to be sure is to have a medic examine it and if necessary to have tests done.
Let us know what happens. |

Hi tamiep, I totally agree with Vee. Do not panic because it might not be anything to worry about, however do see your doctor as soon as possible... at least sometime next week. I know it is easy to say "don't panic" when it is not my breast we are talking about. But seeing your doctor will at least address the issue and you will feel like you are doing something about whatever it is that you have.
Do keep us informed. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. _________________ Jim

Thanks so much you guys for the encouraging words. I'm kind of embarrassed to say that I cannot find the hard vain thing now. But it was still there up until a few hours ago. I'm still going to go to the doctor tomorrow or Tuesday to see what it might have been.
My sister had Hodgkin's so I think I get kind of paranoid sometimes.

Don't be embarrassed- It's natural and "safe" to worry about anything odd, or different- even if a tiny thing... Hope all goes well with the DR- keep us informed IN _________________ Thinking of you Inica

Tamiep, I totally agree with IN... no need to be embarrassed Most of us would not be living today if we did not have at least some degree of panic when we found something different in our bodies. It is just your way to remind yourself that things are not "normal" and that you need to see a doctor. Keep us informed. _________________ Jim
