Hello,

As you know my Dad is not long for this life, but my sister has put him on to paw paw leaf tea (papaya). You boil the leaves for four hours then strain the liquid off. The stuff looks disgusting and smells disgusting, but Dad has tried it anyway.

Has anyone else heard of this "cure"?

I'm dubious, but am open to suggestions.

Regards,

Queensland Girl

Interesting tea Very Happy. I love papayas but never heard of making a tea from its leaves. Papaya fruit is a natural meat tenderiser. Maybe the leaves are good for something too. I wish I was still a phamacognosist and I would look into this tea. I truly hope it works. Where did your sister hear about this tea?

Hi Brainman,

Don't you sleep? Aren't you about 14 hours behind Australia?

Anyway, my sister heard about it from some Pacific Islanders - Vanuatu or Fiji I think. As to how she found out, I don't know.

Needless to say, anyone in the family who knows anyone with a paw paw tree has been freighting leaves down to Dad.

I am amazed though, as I remember as a kid (a long time ago in a century past) climbing up our paw paw tree and getting the sap in my eyes. Oh man - I thought I was going to be blind, not to mention the big red welts that came up on my skin.

Regardless, hopefully nature knows best.

Kind regards.

Hi Queensland Girl,

Yes, I do sleep... just not when others do. I think I live on Australian Central Time rather the US Central Time Smile. It is only 11 pm here anyhow Razz

I just posted a message about your father on the colon cancer forum. I am so very sorry about his condition getting worse so soon.

Best wishes.
