Hi everyone,

I am violating the forums policy by posting this message on several forums but I think you will agree that I am right in doing so.

Marty (username freeio), a long time member and very courageous and faithful man died on October 27, 2007. Of our still active members, he is sixth on the total number of posts list. Marty helped so many people... especially on the Pancreatic Cancer forum. He fought until the very end, posting to his website until two days before his death.

My heart is breaking because Marty meant so much to me at so many levels. I will be attending his visitation next Saturday night and would like to take a packet of emails from as many members as I can. Please email me at jim_hawkins54@charter.net with the subject: "To Monica from"..... I think Monica (Marty's wife) would love our gesture of gratitude.

Please, send me your emails by Thursday so I can include them to give to Monica. I will also copy some of the replies freeio receiver over the years but would like to include your personal feelings about him as well. I just wish I could reach all of the hundreds of members he helped.

Thank you very much.

There are people one never meets but who become important through their generous contributions and help.

I am so very sorry to hear about Marty, and though I am not a pancreatic c. victim, I will miss his wonderfully helpful and clear messages.

My very sincere condolences to his family.

Marty *Diehl Martin*

Even Though you are not here to read this, I now feel you over my shoulder, reading as I type.

I came to this Forum, for hope, a wish, some comfort. I found you.

You became my strength, my savior, my inspiration. Many times I have become broken, down, and lost. Then I would read your Blog. It was like a friendly Hug, making me feel safe, secure. Making me realise there are many worse off people out there struggling, not complaining about pitiful things.

You even gave me someone to believe in. Your unforgetful, forgiving belief in The Lord, reminding me there is someone out there. Even if you get mad and angry, disappointed in him- He is there.

You gave me many things in your blogs- Strength, will power, Faith, belief and Love. The all consuming forever love, that you have had with Monica. The kind of Love everyone, including me, wants. Forever Love.

This somewhat cruel world is your End, but you are just beginning a New Start, New World. I know you will always be here, looking over my shoulder and others in this Forum.

I will sadly miss you Marty, But never forget.

Always your Friend Inica.

I have been offline for a few days. Although I am a new member to this forum, my heart goes out to those whose lives he touched. Sad
I'll keep his family and friends in my heart and prayers.

I just got home from visiting with Monica and much of her family and friends at his wake. It was nice to finally put a face to the names... I just wish I had met Marty in person.

I took her a binder that I made with clippings from messages on the forum and emails to Monica that I have received. She was very grateful for all of your warm replies and impressed at how worldwide Marty's story has gone. I received emails for Monica from Australia, UK, India, China, and the USA of course. But I know that he replied to hundreds of people from many other countries. In total, I received 15 emails and pretty much copied all of this topic and all of freeio's main topic... where he said that chemo had failed and they would not be doing any more treatments.

I can still forward emails to Monica if you would like.
