Hi All,

Dad's been in hospital 2 weeks now... it looked like he wasn't going to be strong enough for radiotherapy for worst hotspots, as his platelet count had dropped to 38 on Friday, then 15 on Monday... less than 10 means a high risk of spontaneous internal bleeding. He dropped to 13 yesterday. They gave him a platelet transfusion last night, his platelets today rose to 95, which is a great relief, albeit a temporary one, as apparently it's not expected he'll be able to make his own platelets anymore.

He's on morphine now, mostly a dose low enough that he can communicate with us and he still cracks jokes, even though he's in alot of pain. He's a truly remarkable man.

He had radiotherapy yesterday and today, more scheduled again tomorrow, a break on the weekend, then scheduled again Monday and Tuesday.

I know some of you have been watching his story, and I just wanted to let you know where he is up to with his battle against his illness.

love, Pam x

Thanks for posting Pam, you've both been in my thoughts and prayers.

Glad to hear that he's able to have some relief from the pain.

Take care,

Best wishes, as always,

Jean

Hi Pam,

I'm sure that the love that you show to your dad means much more to him than you imagine. Be sure to tell him that you love him. He seems to be tolerating everything as well as he can. Add mine and my wife's prayers to those of others. A while back I posted a note that I have asked the prayer group at my church to pray for ALL prostate cancer victims. I wish you and your dad well.
